~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Beulah Woman Killed in freak accident Sunday, November 10, 1991:
A Beulah woman was killed in a "feak accident" Sunday after she apparently fell from her horse, according to Sgt. James Majors of the Lee County Sheriff's Department.
Nancy Carol Ralls Jones, 34, was last seen riding her horse near her residence at 2308 Lee Rd 270, Cusseta, AL in Beulah community about noon or 1 pm, Majors said.
About 1:30 pm , her husband, Ronnie Jones, checked outside to see what the dog was barking at and discovered the riderless horse standing in the yard without a bridle.
Mrs. Jones had been thrown by the horse before so Jones immediately got friends and relatives to help search for his wife.
They found her about a quarter of a mile from the house where the horse had apparently thrown her, hitting the back of her head on a large boulder, Majors said.
Emergency people were there from the Lee-Chambers Volunteer Fire Department to try to make her more comfortable until the East Alabama Medical Center Emergency Transport System pareamedics arrived.
She was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon at 3:25 at East Alabama Medical Center, according to Lee County Deputy Coroner Bill Harris.
The death will be ruled an accident, Harris said, noting it resulted from cranial cerebral trauma where she fell and struck her head.
Majors called the fall "a sad, tragic accident."
The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, 1991 at 3 pm at Frederick's Chapel.
